Description

The speed of business is continuing to increase putting pressure on organisations to change and innovate almost constantly to be effective. This module will focus on the skills and knowledge necessary for you to lead organisational initiatives around change and innovation. Building on a foundation of motivation, conflict, power and communication, you will evaluate a range of practical approaches to leading change and innovation efforts. Finally, you will be challenged to explore how to create an organisational culture that is capable of dealing with the speed and scope of change of tomorrow’s business world.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of this module, you should be able to:

  • understand the market and environmental factors driving organisations to increase their need to be successful at managing change and innovation
  • understand the basics of how people react to change and the tools by which a leader may manage and utilise these common reactions
  • understand the basic frameworks for dealing with organisational change
  • understand the many ways an organisation may source innovation and how these approaches influence the needs of management and leadership within the organisation
  • demonstrate an applied understanding of the innovation process and how to manage the people side of these efforts
  • produce and present a practical plan for an organisational change or innovation effort including the managerial considerations that support that plan from conception through implementation
  • discuss and debate module topics with leaders from other cultures and industries.
