
Alan Parkinson
Professor in Finance, Accounting, and Economics
Dr. Parkinson specialises in Managerial Accounting, Financial Management and generic Accounting/Finance modules. He plays a critical role in the school’s online MSc in Professional Accountancy with the University of London and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), in which students can simultaneously complete their Master’s degree and their ACCA qualification.
In addition to serving as line manager for a number of staff colleagues, Dr. Parkinson holds a number of leadership positions at UCL:
- Chair: School Teaching Committee
- Chair: School Examination Boards
- Teaching Lead: Finance, Accounting and Economics
Prior to joining UCL, Professor Parkinson held senior positions at Queen Mary (University of London), The Open University Business School, University of Hertfordshire, London South Bank University and more.
An FCCA- and ACMA/CGMA-qualified accountant, he holds an EdD in Education from the University of London (Institute of Education), an MSc in Business from City University Business School, a Higher Education Teaching Certificate from the University of London (Institute of Education) and an MA in Early Modern History from the University of London (Birkbeck College).
